Yasin Alesmael
I work at Woodforest National Bank. I deal with real people, real accounts, and real money every day — and now I want to work the side of banking most customers never see. Fraud, compliance, operations.
About me
The front desk view of a back-office world
I'm a banker at Woodforest National Bank. That means I sit across from customers every day — opening accounts, handling transactions, sorting out whatever went sideways. You learn a lot about how money moves when you're the first person someone talks to when something goes wrong.
That's exactly what drew me toward fraud and back-office work. I've seen the front end. I know what a suspicious transaction looks like from the teller window. Now I want to be on the team that actually investigates it — fraud analysis, BSA/AML compliance, operations. That's where I'm headed.
I also have a background in IT, which isn't as random as it sounds for this field. Fraud systems, case management tools, monitoring platforms — I'm comfortable in that world.
What I know
Skills
Career history
Experience
- Handle account openings, transactions, disputes, and anything else customers bring to the window.
- Flag suspicious activity when something doesn't look right — and know when to escalate it.
- Run KYC checks and collect documentation for new customers as part of the onboarding process.
- Stay current on BSA and AML requirements — not just the policy, but what it looks like in practice.
- Balance drawers daily. Numbers match or I find out why they don't.
- Walk customers through fraud scenarios and what to do when their account gets compromised.
Before banking, I spent time in IT — support, networking, systems work. It's a different world but it taught me how to actually think through a problem instead of just applying the first fix that comes to mind. That carries over more than people expect in fraud and ops work.
- Set up osTicket from scratch — the same kind of case management workflow used in fraud departments.
- Practiced methodical troubleshooting and documentation, which translates directly into investigation work.
- Got comfortable learning new systems fast, which helps when every bank runs different software.
